Safari has only implemented the newer, standardized WebAuthn API (which covers both U2F and FIDO2 authenticators), while Bitwarden uses the older non-standard U2F API.Ĭhrome, Firefox and other browsers ship with an extension that enables the usage of the old U2F API, however, that will stop working in a few years, so it is up to Bitwarden to move to WebAuthn. I cannot use my Security Key in U2F mode as a second factor when using MacOS/Safari.īitwarden's Web Vault does not support Safari for U2F based 2FA on macOS. Yubico OTP is different from OATH-TOTP (the algorithm used by Google Authenticator and Yubico Authenticator in hardware). U2F over NFC is not supported at all on Bitwarden Mobile (Android/iOS) applications.
